The first Saturday Super Quiz: Science

So the first quiz post is a Saturday quiz, which are special.

The weekday quizzes are all 9 questions at three different levels of difficulty. On Saturdays, though, the quiz is 15 questions. There are still the three levels of difficulty; Freshman, Graduate and PhD, but there are five questions in each category instead of three.

Answers are in the comments section, so click on comments to see the answers. I'm interested in science and normally fair better than Mike in this area, but I think he'll do pretty well, but I have no problem with him proving me wrong.

Hell, I may even try to find some sort of a score keeping widget, and if enough people start to participate we can have a top ten list..... but, boy, am I getting ahead of myself!

I missed 7, 9 and 15. Seven was missed because I seem to have skipped over the question, and when I saw the answer at the bottom after reading the quiz I had to scroll back up to find out what question had the answer of 'alternating', which is when I found out I skipped over it. Nine I made the guess of the jaw, and fifteen I had no clue.

And the fact that number 13 was in PhD means either the author doesn't use email, or he thinks the readers of the quiz are idiots.

ANSWERS: 1. Six. 2. Halley's comet. 3. Radioactivity. 4. The speed of light. 5. Bat. 6. The eyelids. 7. Alternating. 8. Iodine. 9. The eyes. 10. DNA. 11. Mars. 12. Four. 13. Spam. 14. Logarithms. 15. Moon.

SCORING:

24 to 30 points — congratulations, doctor; 18 to 23 points — honors graduate; 13 to 17 points — you're plenty smart, but no grind; 5 to 12 points — you really should hit the books harder; 1 point to 4 points — enroll in remedial courses immediately; 0 points — who reads the questions to you?

I missed 6,9,14, and 15.

I guessed "lunar" for 15, but obviously over thought it.

The reason I got 11 had nothing to do with a proper education in astronomy, and everything to do with the original "Doom." Once again, violent video games teach us all!
